What is the book of Genesis about?

Genesis tells the story of beginnings: the creation of the world, humanity's rebellion, God's judgment and mercy, and the family through whom he promises blessing to the nations.

Its second half follows Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph. Their stories establish themes and promises that continue throughout the rest of Scripture.

How to read Genesis in a month

Read each day's chapters as part of one unfolding story. Pay attention to repeated promises, family patterns, and the consequences of trust and unbelief.

Thirty days is short enough to retain the narrative while still leaving time to pause over important passages.

Yes. Genesis has 50 chapters, so a month-long plan usually assigns one or two chapters per day.

How long does it take to read Genesis?

Reading time varies by day because Genesis contains chapters of very different lengths. This plan balances the workload rather than forcing an identical chapter count every day.

Is Genesis a good place to begin reading the Bible?

Genesis is a natural starting point because it introduces the Bible's opening story, major themes, and foundational promises.
