How this one-year Bible reading plan works

The plan moves straight through Scripture in canonical order. Each day is balanced by verse count, so the workload stays steadier than a plan that assigns the same number of chapters regardless of their length.

Most days cover about three or four chapters. Some readings cross a book boundary, and an unusually long chapter may be divided so that one day does not become disproportionately heavy.

Making a year-long plan sustainable

Choose a regular time and a place where you can read without rushing. Consistency matters more than creating a perfect streak.

If you miss a day, avoid doubling every future reading. Catch up gradually, use a spare day, or let the finish date move. The purpose is to read attentively, not to race the calendar.

Questions about this reading plan

How many chapters a day do I need to read the Bible in one year?

The Bible has 1,189 chapters, which averages a little over three chapters per day across 365 days. This plan balances by verse count, so individual days vary slightly.

Can you read the entire Bible in one year?

Yes. A steady daily rhythm makes the whole Bible manageable within a year while leaving enough time to read thoughtfully.

What happens if I miss a day?

Continue with the next scheduled reading and catch up when you have room. Finishing a few days late is better than abandoning the plan because the dates stopped being perfect.
