What is the book of Romans about?

Romans presents Paul's fullest explanation of the good news about Jesus. It addresses human sin, justification by faith, life in the Spirit, God's purposes for Israel, and the practical life of a renewed community.

The letter was written to Christians in Rome whom Paul had not yet visited, so he explains his message and mission with unusual care.

How to read Romans well

Follow the flow of Paul's argument from chapter to chapter. When a paragraph is difficult, note the question and keep reading so that the larger point remains visible.

Pay attention to connecting words such as therefore, but, and for. They often show how a section relates to what came before it. Longer chapters may be divided across adjacent days to keep the readings balanced.

For the story leading into Paul's ministry, begin with Acts in 28 Days.
