We Know In Part

We Know In Part

Socrates once said that he was the wisest man in all of Athens because he knew how little he knew.

That was such a profound realization because, in a world that weaponizes information, even a tiny bit of knowledge can give a person leverage and, in turn, make them feel like they're on top of the world.

And such is the nature of knowledge. It can be beneficial, but it can also deceive the heart of the bearer into thinking they've figured out the whole picture.

Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 13:9 (NLT):

Now our knowledge is partial and incomplete, and even the gift of prophecy reveals only part of the whole picture!

The implication is that even in the things we do know, we have many blind spots.

And this realization is meant to increase our dependency on God.

But even more, to emphasize the importance of humility in our lives.

Because we, in our own natural abilities, can never know everything.
